PRESCRIPTION DRUG INSTRUCTIONS


Lodine (Etodolac) - Drug is best tolerated if taken 30-45 minutes after eating food.  Do not take any other non-                                        steroidal anti-inflammatory agents, examples are: Advil, Nuprin, Aleve, Motrin and Ibuprofen.                                           This can cause increased risk of stomach irritation. Take 1 tablet 1 ½ hrs. before surgery                                          with a small sip of water if directed to do so..

Percocet (Oxycodone)****percocet prescription needs to be filled within 30 days.

                                              FILL Rx AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.   

                                 Drug is best tolerated if taken 30-45 minutes after eating food Avoid milk or dairy products,                                      example: ice cream. This may upset your stomach.

Vistaril (Hydroxyzine) – Take 45 minutes before surgery, with a small sip of water.

WARNINGLODINE, VISTARIL & PERCOCET. Do not drive or drink alcohol when taking this medication. May cause                           dizziness, use caution, when operating a car or dangerous machinery

Amoxicillin – Drug is best tolerated if taken 30-45 minutes after eating food.  Start taking 2 days before your                                  scheduled appointment and continue taking until finished.

PenicillinDo not take with food or take 1½ hours after meals. Start taking 2 days before scheduled appointment                       and  continue taking until finished.                                                                                                         

Erythromycin, Clindamycin - Drug is best tolerated if taken 30-45 minutes after eating  food. Start taking 2 days                                                     before your scheduled appointment and continue taking until finished

                   **Antibiotics can decrease the potency, effectiveness of birth control pills.**

Neosporin Ointment or Aquaphor – apply to lips two days pre-op at night, and following surgery.


Peridex – rinse twice a day as directed

 

**Nitrous Oxide – (laughing gas) – No food or water for 5 hours before surgery. 

**Nitrous Oxide/oral sedationNo food or water from midnight before surgery.

**IVAnesthesiaNo food or water from midnight the night before surgery.

** Must come with a driver 18 years or older.


Additional comments:

FOOD SUGGESTIONS: soup, applesauce, oatmeal, jello, instant mashed potatoes, stuffing, soft pasta, scambled eggs, Gatorade.

Bring walkman, Discman, MP3, Ipod, etc.
